Whendoo

Support

I wrote Whendoo on my own, and I read every support message myself. Questions about the app are welcome at support@whendoo.app.

If you want to know what something on screen means, the help page goes through each screen part by part.

How does the free version work?

The free version has up to 5 activities, with every feature included. Once you have 5, adding another one needs Whendoo Unlimited. Nothing you add is ever taken away.

Paused activities count toward the 5. Deleting an activity frees a slot, but it also deletes that activity's completion history, so it is a poor way to make room for a new one.

Everything else is free for everyone: completions, categories, pause and skip, the widget, Sync Apple Health workouts, the morning summary and all the settings. Whendoo Unlimited removes the limit for a one-time purchase of $6.99. Your Family Sharing group gets it too.

What happens to my data if I delete the app or get a new phone?

Your activities stay on your iPhone and travel with its iCloud or computer backup. When you restore a new phone from that backup, your activities and their completion history come along with everything else, and no account is needed. That backup is the only way the data moves between phones, because Whendoo has no sync of its own.

Deleting the app deletes its data, and reinstalling does not bring it back. If your completion history matters to you, Export data in Settings gives you a copy to keep, and it is worth doing now and again. See how to export your data.

How do I restore my purchase?

Usually you don't have to do anything. On a new device or after a reinstall, Whendoo asks the App Store whether your Apple Account owns the unlock and unlocks itself when it launches.

If that hasn't happened, open Settings → Restore purchases. Check that you are signed in with the Apple Account that bought it, or, with Family Sharing, that you are in the family group of the account that did.

How do I request a refund?

Refunds are granted by Apple, not by me. The quickest way to ask is inside the app: open Settings and tap the Whendoo Unlimited row, which reads Unlocked once you own it, and choose Request a refund. That opens Apple's refund request sheet. You can also use reportaproblem.apple.com.

If the refund is granted, the activity limit applies again. Nothing you add is ever taken away.

How do I export my data?

Export data in Settings gives you every activity, category and completion as JSON. Open Settings → About → Export data, and the iOS share sheet lets you send it to a note, a message, or anywhere else that takes text.

The App Store version has no Import, so the export is a copy you keep and can read, not a way to restore the app. A new phone gets the data through your iPhone's own backup.

How does Apple Health sync work, and how do I turn it off?

Turn it on with Settings → Sync Apple Health workouts and grant access when iOS asks. Then link an activity to a workout type. When a matching workout shows up in Apple Health, Whendoo completes the activity the next time you open the app, at most once a day per activity. That covers an Apple Watch, a Garmin, a Peloton and any app that writes to Apple Health. A link can be narrowed to a brand name and a minimum duration. Unchecking a synced completion dismisses that workout.

Health data is only read, and it never leaves your iPhone. To revoke access, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Whendoo in the iOS Settings app and turn the categories off. Whendoo keeps working, and you complete those activities by hand.

Why does the widget need iOS 17?

In the widget, you tap the ring to complete an activity without opening the app, and widgets that can run an action instead of only opening the app arrived in iOS 17. On iOS 16.4 through 16.7 the app itself works fully, and only the widget is missing.

How do I change when my day starts?

Open Settings → Day starts at and choose Midnight or 3:00 AM. Pick 3:00 AM if you are often up past midnight, so a late night still counts as the evening before. The setting applies to every date calculation in the app, so statuses, the calendar, the weekly grid and the morning summary all agree.

What's the difference between skip and pause?

Skip is for "not this time, ask me again in a while". Skip resets the timer without logging a completion, so the next time counts from today and your history stays accurate.

Pause is for "don't ask me at all for now", whether for a vacation, an injury or a seasonal activity. Its progress is frozen until it resumes, and it picks up from there. You can pause for 1 day, 3 days, 1 week, 3 weeks, a custom period or indefinitely. Paused activities count toward the 5.
